Garrett: Men of Silverlak, book 3
contemporary romance--novel length

Her writer's block never stood a chance...

After the sudden death of her mother, Camille Baker turns to the characters in her erotic romance books for solace. But when her writing begins to suffer from her despair, she caves to the demand of her best friend to take a break and heads to scenic Silverlake, Ohio. The peaceful small town is exactly what she needs to finish her latest manuscript. But there’s one kink, Beth’s gorgeous soon-to-be brother-in-law Garrett Stone. He’s not supposed to be part of her recovery, but when he expresses an interest in her steamy writing, Camille decides that maybe what she really needs is some hands-on research.

Garrett knows his feelings for Camille borders on obsession. The pretty blonde with the gentle curves and ready smile intrigues the hell out of him. Damned if she’ll give him the time of day though. It isn’t until she drops a book outside the local diner that Garrett begins to see another side to the snarky, little beauty. A sexier side, if the erotic romance novel with her name on the cover is any indication. Soon, he’s nose-deep in the book and can’t seem to put it down. He’s especially drawn to all the passion-filled scenes that Camille has helpfully highlighted. Suddenly Garrett is considering doing a little moonlighting as Camille’s eager-to-please assistant.

Excerpt:

Cam smoothed her hands over her jean-covered thighs and checked her grey, long sleeve, Ohio State Buckeye t-shirt one last time. She’d worn her hair down in loose waves. It fell to the middle of her back. He’d said comfortable. Jeans and a T was as comfortable as it got. Still, she felt lame considering it was their first date. She sat on the end of the bed and slipped on her white sneakers before heading out of the bedroom. She walked into the kitchen where Maddox and Beth were halfway into their meal. Maddox had pulled his chair closer to Beth’s and he had his hand on her thigh. Cam’s heart melted. She loved seeing her friend so happy and so well-loved. Beth deserved it after the jerk she’d been married to.
“You better save me a slice of that cake, B,” Cam warned, as she spotted the container on the counter.
Beth laughed and scooted away from the table. “I already cut two slices, one for you and one for Garrett.”
Cam grinned. “I love you.”
Beth took them out of the fridge and handed them to her. “Here, take them with you.”
She took the container from her. “Thanks, B.”
She heard a diesel engine outside and knew Garrett had arrived. Her heart accelerated to a sprint. A minute went by and then a knock sounded on the front door. Cam walked toward it, but Garrett saw her through the glass storm door and let himself in. He wore a pair of faded, ripped jeans and a white V-neck t-shirt. His usual black work boots. The man was panty-dampening hot.
He strode right up to her and cupped her face in his rough, calloused palms and kissed her. His lips were warm and he tasted like mint and bad ideas. She wanted to sink into him. Just wrap her body around him and surrender. He angled his head for a better fit and she heard him groan a second before his tongue teased her lips apart. He sank into the hot cavern of her mouth and took what he wanted. Garrett was all about getting straight to the point. Heat pooled between her legs and her temperature spiked. Lordy, she wasn’t up to speed with the man.
He pulled away a few inches. “Figured I’d get that one out of the way.”
“Uh-huh,” she breathed out, unable to form a coherent thought with the rush of arousal flooding her system. Hell, she was proud that she hadn’t dropped the container with their slices of cake nestled inside. Her hands were definitely a little shaky, thanks to the kiss.
He released her face and fisted his hands at his sides. “Damn, you taste good, sweetness. I’m gonna need a shit-ton more of that.”
“Yeah, you won’t hear me complaining.” She picked up her purse by the door and called out to Beth, “Don’t wait up, B.”
She popped her head around the corner, a grin on her face. “Have fun, you two.”
Garrett waved, then turned and held the door. Cam’s nerves were firing like an automatic weapon she was so jazzed. That kiss. Oh man, he sure knew what he was doing. Her inner slut was jumping with glee. You picked the right country boy for this little venture, girl.
“I have a surprise for you,” Garrett murmured as he put his palm low on her back and lead her to his truck.
“You mentioned that in your text.”
“Mm, I hope you like the outdoors,” he said, keeping it vague.
“Depends,” she hedged. “I’m not a fan of spiders or mosquitos.”
“I promise to keep you away from both,” he swore as he held the truck door open for her. After she was inside, he leaned forward and said, “You look cute as fuck, by the way. Wasn’t sure if I mentioned that or not.”
She smiled, glad he approved. “You didn’t. And thanks.”
He stared at the words across her chest and his gaze heated. “Go Bucks,” he growled.
